Dr Rashmi Verma

Dr Verma is a highly experienced and respected Consultant who is an expert in Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry, including ADHD and Autism.

Since graduating from The University of Sheffield School of Medicine in 2004, Dr Verma has gained over 20 years of clinical experience working as a doctor in the NHS.

She has trained and worked in several prestigious institutions in Central London, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, University College London Hospital, The Royal Free and The Whittington Hospitals as well as The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust-where she worked in the Autism and LD Service for 14 years, as a Consultant Lead since 2010.

Dr Verma has also worked as an NHS Consultant in Surrey since 2018, where she started the process of conducting dual ASD and ADHD assessments for young people who were previously waiting on 2 separate waiting lists. She recognises that there is often an overlap in symptoms and has now conducted over 100 dual ADHD and ASD assessments for children and young people there. Dr Verma is an expert in Autism and ADHD, gaining considerable knowledge and authority within the field and she also has vast experience in general mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. She is therefore able to view children holistically and give advice accordingly.

Dr Verma is a kind clinician, well-liked by young people, parents and professionals due to her natural ability to develop a good rapport with others. As a mother of 3 children herself, she fully understands how daunting and overwhelming the process of neurodevelopmental assessments may feel for young people and their families and she does her upmost to make her patients comfortable and reassured.  She very much believes in identifying difficulties early, so that support can be put in place as soon as possible where needed. Alongside this, Dr Verma also highlights the individual strengths that young people may have to help with their self-esteem and sense of identity.

Dr Verma is fully trained in Autism Diagnotic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), 3Di-R and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)-2 assessments and attends regular reliability meetings to keep up to date. She continues to work in the NHS ensuring that her comprehensive private assessment reports are of a high standard and will be widely accepted by the NHS and school professionals alike. 

Dr Verma has been a licensed member of the General Medical Council since 2004 and of The Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2006. She has been an Approved Clinician since 2015 and is also a member of the RCPsych specialist interest group for Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry. Dr Verma has provided a number of training events for multi-disciplinary professionals including GPs, psychologists, charity organisations, schoolteachers and social workers, receiving excellent feedback from attendees and promoting awareness about children’s mental health.

At Schoen Clinic, Dr Verma is available for assessments only and can give guidance about where to access medication and alternative treatments at the clinic, if indicated and wanted. She sees children between ages 6-18 years and is happy to assess for ADHD alone, ASD alone or offer a dual assessment if preferred. She also includes screening as part of her assessment package and is also able to determine if the difficulties are not neurodevelopmental, providing advice about further support as needed.

Dr Verma offers a separate appointment to parents/carers before seeing the child in person. She also gathers adjunctive information from educational settings before offering a feedback appointment and report with resources and recommendations.

Child & Adolescent ADHD Assessment - £2,495

Dr Verma welcomes self-funding patients to her Schoen Clinic Chelsea practice, she does not currently provide private medical insurance-funded appointments.
