With over 18 years of clinical post-graduate experience, Amrita is a highly skilled Advanced Speech & Language Therapist (SLT).
She is an integral part of Schoen Clinic Chelsea's multidisciplinary team, playing a key role in the diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and supporting individuals with a broad range of communication and swallowing disorders.
Amrita’s expertise spans paediatric and adult speech, language and communication therapy, and advanced management of complex swallowing disorders (dysphagia). Her work encompasses a wide array of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI), stroke recovery, head and neck cancers, developmental delays, and long-term neurological conditions.
Amrita is a specialist in advanced dysphagia management, offering evidence-based assessments and treatments, such as:
Clinical Bedside Swallow Evaluations
Instrumental assessments (FEES and Videofluoroscopy)
Functional swallowing rehabilitation using techniques like the McNeil Dysphagia Therapy Program and IQoro therapy
Her deep understanding of the neurophysiology of swallowing and rehabilitation techniques ensures comprehensive support for individuals with eating and drinking difficulties.
Amrita is also an advanced practitioner in managing voice disorders, with expertise in:
Voice Therapy: Including certified training in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program
Laryngeal Manipulation: Addressing conditions such as reflux (LPR), COPD, and chronic cough
Voice Feminisation Therapy: Supporting the transgender community with specialist voice therapy
As a clinical supervisor for voice assessments at City University Birmingham, Amrita continues to mentor the next generation of SLTs in this field.
