BSc (Hons) Language & Communication Sciences

With over 18 years of clinical post-graduate experience, Amrita is a highly skilled Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (SLT). 

 

She is an integral part of Schoen Clinic Chelsea's multidisciplinary team, playing a key role in the diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and supporting individuals with a broad range of communication, voice and swallowing impairments and disorders. 




 

Amrita’s expertise spans paediatric and adult speech, language and communication therapy, and advanced management of complex swallowing disorders (dysphagia). Her work encompasses a wide array of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI), stroke recovery, head and neck cancers, neurodevelopmental and progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinsons Disease and Functional Neurological disorders (FND)

 

Amrita is a specialist in advanced dysphagia management, offering evidence-based assessments and treatments, such as:

 

  • Clinical Bedside Swallow Evaluations

  • Functional swallowing rehabilitation using techniques like the McNeil Dysphagia Therapy Program and IQoro therapy


Her deep understanding of the neurophysiology of swallowing and rehabilitation techniques ensures comprehensive support for individuals with eating and drinking difficulties.

 

Amrita is also an advanced practitioner in managing voice disorders, with expertise in:


  • Voice Therapy: Including certified training in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program

  • Laryngeal manipulation and myofascial release therapy to help relieve tension and improve movement in the throat and surrounding muscles for better voice function and comfort

  • Support for professional voice users—such as teachers, radio presenters, and performers—experiencing voice changes or loss, helping to restore vocal health and performance.

  • Expert support for chronic cough and voice impairment caused by acid reflux or underlying respiratory conditions, helping to restore vocal health and comfort.

  • Trans Voice and Communication Therapy: Offering specialist therapy to support individuals in the transgender community in achieving their authentic vocal and communicative expression.


As a clinical supervisor,  Amrita continues to mentor the next generation of SLTs in this field.
