How can a short-term residential stay help adults with eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia or OSFED?
At Schoen Clinic York, we understand the difficulties and complexity of treating eating disorders such OSFED, bulimia nervosa, and anorexia nervosa. Our experienced multidisciplinary team of eating disorder specialists is committed to supporting individuals in need.
One of the main goals of our short-term inpatient stays is to offer early intervention to lessen the impact of eating disorders and, ideally, avoid their escalation.
By providing private short-term inpatient stays, we create a safe, focused environment to aid in slowing the progression of the eating disorder as privately-funded patients can access our care at an earlier stage of the eating disorder.
Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive space where adults can rest and heal physically and emotionally, laying the foundation for a sustainable recovery journey.

Short stays can give families some breathing room because they know their loved one is in a secure hospital setting with a team of healthcare professionals and others going through similar challenges.

There are various reasons why patients and their families request private short-stay eating disorder support. Sometimes it's due to the need for respite care, extra assistance, or limited funding, but rest assured that we will take all requests into account and assist wherever we can.
Since eating disorders are extremely complicated mental health issues, we cannot "cure" them with a private short-stay.
However, we will offer a safe environment with healthcare professionals available around the clock to support you and your loved one. We'll do all we can to help in the time we have.

Patient testimonial
"I’d say that my admission at Schoen Clinic helped me massively and that the care and treatment was good. There was a range of different psychology and occupational therapy groups run by knowledgeable staff members that proved useful whilst also occupying our time.

Overall the staff’s care was excellent. Some of the team went above and beyond to help the patients and you could tell that they genuinely cared and were only doing things in your best interest. They tried to accommodate (within reason) to help us as well as they possibly could and to diffuse stressful and overwhelming situations."
