When should you seek mental health help?
Knowing when to seek mental health support is vital for your overall wellbeing. If you find that your mental health challenges are persisting, it might be time to consider seeking professional help.
You may already have a diagnosed mental health condition, or it may be that you're aware something is persistently "off" with your mood or emotions but can't put your finger on what.
Here are some key signs that indicate you could benefit from professional mental health support:
-
Persistent worry, sadness, or other difficult emotions
-
Negative impact on your quality of life
-
Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed
-
Thoughts of self-harm
Struggling with mental health is not a sign of weakness, nor is it something imaginary. If your mental health issues are persistent, acknowledging the need for support is a courageous and crucial step. Research shows one in six people experience symptoms of common mental health issues like anxiety and depression each week, meaning it likely affects more people around you than you realise.
What to expect from our mental health treatment programme
At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, our comprehensive mental health treatment programme offers a variety of individual and group therapies designed for adults dealing with a diverse range of mental health conditions. We also provide advanced medication management (including anxiety medication and depression medication) with our Consultant Psychiatrists if required.
Whether you struggle with low mood, lack of motivation, persistent worries, have been diagnosed with conditions like OCD, or are looking for specialist PTSD treatment or depression treatment, our programme is personalised to address your needs. Our team has extensive experience in anxiety treatment for a range of anxiety disorders, including sleep anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety and work anxiety. The programme also provides support for grief and bereavement.
It's designed to offer a comprehensive and structured approach to mental health therapy for those needing further or accelerated progress and can be an alternative to inpatient admission or provide support after transitioning from inpatient care.
Our team supports individuals with diverse experiences and difficulties, providing a more holistic approach to mental health treatment. Upon starting the programme, you can expect a variety of mental health therapy groups aimed at supporting your recovery.
These include open discussion groups to explore your challenges and emotions, as well as practical skills-based groups for managing specific difficulties. Therapies available in our programme include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), schema therapy, mindfulness, compassionate mind, and assertiveness training.
What's included in the programme?
We believe in a holistic approach to mental health treatment. During your time with us, you will be supported by a diverse team of mental healthcare professionals, each bringing unique skills, experience, and expertise.
Our multidisciplinary team includes psychologists, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, nutritionists, family therapists, Consultant Psychiatrists, nurses, and other mental health specialists. The team meets regularly to review your treatment progress and plans.
You'll also have a dedicated Key Worker as part of your programme. They'll meet with you regularly and develop a care plan. This plan will outline your treatment goals and support you as you progress.
You will also have the opportunity to attend a range of groups and receive individual therapy (if needed), as well as regular psychiatric reviews with a Consultant as required.

How do I pay for the private mental health treatment programme?
If you decide to proceed with treatment, you have a few simple options for funding:
1. Use your private medical insurance to cover the cost of your treatment. We are recognised by all major health insurers including BUPA, AXA, Cigna, WPA, Vitality, and Aviva.
2. If the treatment requires approval from a healthcare insurance provider, we are recognised by all the major insurers. This means we can communicate directly with them to make the administration process as smooth as possible, minimising delays.

3. You can also opt to simply pay-as-you-go for treatment.
Let's get you back to better mental health
If you'd like to join the adult mental health treatment programme, the first step will be offering you an assessment where you will meet with one of the clinical team. You’ll have the opportunity to talk about your current difficulties.
You’ll also be able to explain to us a little bit more about what you’ve experienced in life that may have led you to seek help at this point.
We’ll make recommendations as to what parts of the programme we think will best meet your needs. We’ll talk you through all the options and discuss together whether we think the treatment programme is right for you. If we both believe the treatment programme will be helpful for your recovery, you can normally start the treatment programme within a few days.
