Your patient journey

Mr Sam Rajaratnam discussing treatment plan with patient during consultation

When it comes to your health, you deserve the best

Within a single outpatient visit you will be assessed, have any diagnostic tests required and a consultation with a specialist to discuss every step of your treatment plan.

We care for private patients from elite sportspersons with musculoskeletal injuries to people with arthritis or back pain and international patients with complex spinal conditions.

Total care pathways

Innovative pathways offer better clinical care, improved experience and cost efficiency benefits to patients and payors. That’s why all of our services are developed around streamlined and controlled consultant-led care pathways.

For patients with complex conditions, we champion multi-disciplinary pathways and the involvement of the wider clinical team for individual case discussions and treatment decisions.

Multidisciplinary team

How it works step-by-step

1. Speak to your GP
You do not need to be referred to Schoen Clinic London but it is always worth speaking to your GP, physiotherapist or other healthcare professional if you can as a referral will provide your consultant with useful information on your medical history.

2. Book an appointment
Our friendly Appointment Team are on hand to help find the most appropriate expert and convenient appointment for you. Contact us to book your appointment.

3. See a consultant
Discuss your symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options with the consultant of your choice. If diagnostic investigations are required, such as an X-ray or blood test, we can usually organise for these to take place on the same day.

4. Receive treatment
If further treatment is recommended, this can be arranged as soon as possible after your consultation or at a time to suit you.

5. Aftercare
After your procedure we provide extensive aftercare and recovery to help you get the most from your treatment.

Multidisciplinary Team Meetings

At Schoen Clinic London, we take pride in our Multidisciplinary Team (MDTs) approach. MDT meetings enable us to deliver joined-up care and ensure that you have the benefit of opinions from a number of specialists.

At these meetings, your current problem, imaging and relevant background medical history may be discussed.

The meetings typically include;

  • Schoen Clinic London Consultants, Radiologists, Physiotherapists, Theatre representatives and Nurse Specialists
  • External Consultant Physicians from related specialities (e.g. Rheumatology)
  • External physiotherapists who would like to discuss some of their patients with the Schoen expert team
  • External Consultant Surgeons who would like to discuss some of their patients with the Schoen expert team

All of these professionals are bound by strict legal terms of confidentiality that prohibit any information sharing outside the bounds of the MDT except where absolutely necessary for your care. If you have any questions about the MDT meetings and what happens with your information, please speak to your consultant.
