Mr Cumming is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spinal surgeon with nine years’ experience as a consultant in Ipswich Hospital, East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Trust. Mr Cumming was the Clinical Lead for spinal and musculoskeletal services in Ipswich for five years. During this time he developed the service into one of the leading orthopaedic hub spinal centres.
During his time as a consultant, he has worked with NHS England to develop best practice in spinal surgery across the country. He is Chair for the Spinal Services Clinical Reference Group for NHS England. Mr Cumming is also Chair of the East of England Regional Spinal Network.
He is the President-Elect for the British Association of Spinal Surgeons and has been involved with the society in developing guidelines and organising national meetings. In clinical practice, he is involved in treating adult spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions. He regularly performs spinal surgery on all areas of the spine for acute, degenerative and traumatic conditions.
