Description

Opened in 2018 Schoen Clinic London is a specialist spinal and orthopaedic hospital based in central London. This is a new post that seeks to improve the patient experience across the speciality increasing access to a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be a key member of the senior clinical and management team.

An expert Practitioner the Nurse Consultant will run their own clinics, support Consultant Surgeons across outpatient clinics, interventional areas and the wards whilst providing clinical leadership to the broader multi-disciplinary team. 

The Nurse Consultant will have a strong commitment to developing the skills and knowledge of our multidisciplinary workforce through the delivery of training, education, clinical/professional supervision, staff well-being initiatives and research.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Lead the delivery of the highest standard of evidence-based nursing care to all patients and their families
  • Practice at an advanced clinical level and exercise high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care
  • Working in partnership with the Consultant Surgeon/Physician responsible for care manage own caseload of patients across clinic (including pre-assessment, follow-up), ward and interventional areas
  • Work with pre-assessment team to provide support and education to patients whilst liaising with the internal and external MDT
  • Work closely with interventional teams to ensure efficient scheduling of interventional cases and availability of appropriate equipment and resources
  • Drive improvement in standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, identifying research questions, disseminating research findings and promoting their translation into practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership
  • Participate in daily ward rounds with MDT colleagues
  • Involved with, and where appropriate collaborate in national and international research contributing to relevant networks and forums
  • Chair and organise (with MDT coordinator) weekly MDTs providing expert opinion and guidance
  • Drive reliable and consistent engagement of patients in clinical outcome monitoring/data gathering
  • Participate in interventional procedures

  • Deep knowledge of NICE, Policy Implementation Guidance and the Government/National Policy and other key policy documents including the proven ability to assimilate national developments or initiatives into local service delivery
  • Deep knowledge of private medicine and the relevant legislative framework
  • Extensive understanding of statutory legislation related to healthcare provision and settings and an ability to work across professional and organisational boundaries internally and externally
  • Understands role of research and audit in driving quality improvement
