Private London ADHD assessments for men and women at Schoen Clinic
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting people of all ages, including both men and women, impacting their ability to concentrate, focus, and complete tasks effectively.
Often, ADHD symptoms are mistaken for a lack of motivation or laziness, and in women, these symptoms are harder to recognise, complicating diagnosis.

At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, we provide private assessments for adults with suspected ADHD to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Given that ADHD has been over-diagnosed globally, it's crucial to see a Consultant Psychiatrist for a thorough evaluation. Our Consultant Psychiatrists, with extensive experience in ADHD, conduct all adult assessments, guaranteeing you receive an accurate diagnosis from a qualified specialist.

Should medication be necessary for optimal outcomes, our Consultant Psychiatrists can prescribe appropriate ADHD medications.
A diagnosis can significantly benefit both men and women, as there are many effective treatments available to manage ADHD symptoms. At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, we specialise in comprehensive adult ADHD assessments, ensuring the best possible care and support for our patients.
What to expect from an ADHD assessment at Schoen Clinic Chelsea
Our approach to ADHD assessments extends beyond symptoms. We take a holistic view, considering all aspects of an individual’s life, including medical and family history, lifestyle, and other contributing factors.
This comprehensive approach ensures a more accurate diagnosis and a tailored treatment plan that meets your specific needs.
Once an ADHD assessment is booked, we'll send initial questionnaires to be completed before the appointment. A Consultant Psychiatrist will review these questionnaires before the detailed 60-minute assessment. During this appointment, the psychiatrist will use appropriate clinical methods to evaluate symptoms and screen for conditions that commonly co-exist with ADHD.
Assessments are conducted in a comfortable, welcoming environment at our London outpatient clinic. We understand that an ADHD assessment can be daunting, especially for those with anxiety or other concerns.
Our private clinic is designed to be a calming and supportive space where patients feel at ease.
Our team of experienced and compassionate professionals is available to address any questions or concerns. We recognise that every patient is unique and take the time to listen, understand, and support our patients throughout the assessment process.

Getting a medical diagnosis for ADHD in London
Following the ADHD assessment at our private mental health clinic in London, we'll provide feedback on the findings of the assessment to the adult and if appropriate, their family/partner/carer(s) or advocate.
We'll also identify and discuss any interventions appropriate to the individual’s needs.
A detailed report of the assessment findings, diagnostic outcome and recommendations will be provided and will include any findings that may help the individual to access support in their employment or place of work.
With consent from the patient, we'll share information with their GP and where appropriate, professionals in health/social care and anyone supporting them in the workplace/employment.
We'll schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss the findings from the report with a Consultant Psychiatrist to answer any questions and outline the next steps.
Expected outcomes and things to know following an ADHD test for adults
The diagnosis and management of ADHD is a two-step process. The initial appointment includes an adult ADHD test and diagnosis, followed by a 30-minute follow-up to discuss the report and plan ongoing treatment if needed. This allows patients and families time to understand the diagnosis and ask any questions.

If diagnosed with ADHD, we develop a treatment plan tailored to the individual's needs, which may include medication, counselling, and behavioural therapy, in line with NICE recommendations.

We have a variety of group therapies and a specialised ADHD treatment programme package available to men and women that help with a range of mental health conditions at Schoen Clinic Chelsea which may be beneficial for adults following their ADHD test and subsequent diagnosis.
At Schoen Clinic Chelsea, we offer various group therapies for men and women that can benefit adults following their ADHD diagnosis. These specialised groups, led by expert ADHD therapists, can be accessed as part of a full treatment programme, or on a pay-as-you-go basis.
We support our patients in accessing the right treatment to achieve the best possible outcomes.
